La Coupe Van der Straeten Ponthoz è stata una delle prime competizioni internazionali organizzate in Europa. Prendeva il nome dal Conte Carl van der Straeten-Ponthoz che l'aveva proposta e aveva offerto la coppa per il vincitore. Il torneo può essere considerato un predecessore della futura Coppa dei Campioni.
